Barbara Gentil was a part-time Librarian from 2011 – 2012. Of particular importance to us is the work that has been archived by Barbara in the processing of archival material and multi-media resources. she started with the Bessie Head papers as we were worried about them being in boxes on the floor – especially as there are some copies in the collection that no longer seem to exist anywhere else. Barbara worked with Jewel to develop an approach for the Archival material that would be in harmony with the APC method and make it easier for users of the catalogue to move from one collection to the next. We argued that good clear guidelines could then be used in the future for other collections.
She processed the huge collection of Bernth Lindfors archival material, Gunner, Woeber and the newspapers from the Lindfors collection. She was especially concerned about the AV and started getting the videos made into DVDs. She identified items for ordering, did many displays, helped acquire proper notice and display boards and edited the newsletter and annual reports. She oversaw the moving of the van der Berg collection and undertook re-shelving to make more space available. She also did the partial stock-take but ran out of time.
